Joining Dropbox
I'm joining Dropbox as the company's first Developer Advocate. I'll be moving to San Francisco, and my first official day at Dropbox will be June 4th, 2013.
I'll have a lot more to say about Dropbox once I get there, but for now, let me just say that everyone I've met at Dropbox has seemed smart and passionate, and the company's goals for the future are both ambitious and achievable. I'm very excited to join the team.
What Else?
For those wondering, no, this was not an acquisition, and this does not impact my startup, Planet Rational. Planet Rational's products Site44 (which uses Dropbox!) and Webscript are both healthy, growing, and sustainable.
This does mean I'll no longer be part of the Aditi team, where I was working part-time as Chief Windows Azure Architect. Aditi's cloud expertise has grown immensely over the past year and a half, with recognizable names like Wade Wegner, Ryan Dunn, Michael Collier, Nuno Godinho, and others on the team. I'm proud to have been part of that team, but they truly don't need me!
DBX
Did you know that Dropbox is going to have its first conference (called DBX) in July? At this point, I don't know anything more about it than you do, but if you're interested in Dropbox's future from a developer perspective, you might want to request an invite.
I hope to see you there!
